HAMArt Works
Artist Bio
Wife. Mother. Artist. Teacher.
The above four words describe me most and to my core. I value family above anything else. Next to family, art is my second love. I graduated from UT Tyler in 2012 with my BFA in Fine Art with an emphasis in sculpture and drawing. From there I attended Texas State Technical College to obtain my certificate in Graphic Design and Web Development. I began working as a graphic designer and web developer right away and loved getting to be create in my job. I sat behind a desk creating for over 4 years, and still smile as I see my design work out in the real world (Buc-cee's and On The Border Salsa label art to name a few!) I however missed the fine arts and decided to get certified to teach k-12 Art. Since, I have been blessed enough to teach art for 7 years in the k-12 classroom and have be given the incredible opportunity to return to school my self in pursuit of my MFA. I obtained my MA in December 2021 and my MFA in December 2022. I have been a TA in both beginning and advanced sculpture classes for the University of Texas at Tyler for one of my mentors and have really enjoyed getting the chance to work in a college classroom. Some of my art influences are: Chris Burden, Marcel Duchamp, Janine Antoni, Tara Donovan, and Louise Nevelson. There are so many artists I find inspiration from, but these are the few I am currently obsessed with. As a viewer, I appreciate conceptual work and really enjoy installation and performance art.
